5.1-magnitude earthquake in Uttarakhand, tremors felt in Sudurpashchim

The tremor, centred in India's Uttarakhand state, was also felt in Nepal's Sudurpashchim Province. The quake struck at 10:38 pm on Tuesday night and was measured at around 5.1 magnitude.
The epicentre is about 100 kilometres west of Darchula, a western border district of Nepal. Tremors were felt in various Sudurpashchim districts, including Darchula, Baitadi and Dadeldhura. Locals who were startled when their houses suddenly shook ran outside.
No damage has been reported so far.
Meanwhile, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rain is likely in one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpashchim on Wednesday. Some Terai areas of the same province may see moderate rain with thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail, the department said.
