Three main roads in Gulmi that were blocked for nearly a week due to landslides and floods have been fully reopened.

Bhim Kiran Bogati, chief of the District Police Office, Gulmi, said the Kaligandaki Corridor, Madan Bhandari Highway and the Ridi–Rudrabeni–Wami road are now operating normally.

Continuous rain had caused landslides and erosion at several points along these roads.

The corridor had been blocked after landslides occurred at four places, including Rakse in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-2.

Soil, mud and large boulders that had piled up from Rudrabeni in Satyawati Rural Municipality to Harmichaur–Arbeni–Purtighat have been cleared using dozers and excavators.

District Police Office information officer Birendra Bir Bishwakarma said the landslide debris was removed in coordination with Kaligandaki Rural Municipality and the Road Division Office, Palpa.

Rural municipality chairman Yadu Gyawali said the stretch at Salbisauna in Rurukshetra Rural Municipality-1 on the Madan Bhandari Highway, which had been running as a one-way road for several days, is now fully open.

A landslide at Sisnebhir in Chandrakot Rural Municipality-7 on the Ridi–Rudrabeni–Wami section has been cleared.

On the same section, floodwater had eroded the road at Ullikhola in Satyawati Rural Municipality-6.

Passengers travelling between Tamghas, Baglung, Palpa, Butwal and Pokhara had suffered hardship while the roads were closed.
