40 MW Rahughat hydropower project connected to national transmission system

Raghuganga Hydropower Limited, under the Nepal Electricity Authority, has connected its 40 MW Rahughat hydropower project in Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Myagdi, to the national transmission system from Wednesday.

Electricity from the project's two 20 MW units has reached the system via the Kaligandaki Corridor 220 kV transmission line.

Under the power purchase agreement with the authority, a test production declaration will now be made, and commercial production will begin once a 15-day trial run succeeds.

Dirgha Ayu Kumar Shrestha, executive director of the authority and chairman of the company's board of directors, said the project was completed despite obstacles such as difficult terrain, the Covid pandemic and floods. According to him, the project can be run at full capacity for four hours daily during the evening hours of peak power demand.
