India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the men's cricket final at the 20th Asian Games in Japan to win the gold medal.

Playing at the Corogi Sports Park in Nishin on Saturday, India won the toss, chose to bat and posted 211 for six. Opener Abhishek Sharma scored 61 runs off 28 balls with seven sixes, while Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 off 22 balls. Shivam Dube added 27 runs off 15 balls.

Chasing 212, Pakistan were restricted to 192 for six after completing 20 overs. Hasan Nawaz scored 96 off 51 balls with five fours and seven sixes, but he was dismissed off the last ball of the innings. For India, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube each took two wickets. For Pakistan, Ahmed Daniyal and Arafat Minhas took two wickets each.

With the win, India have won the men's cricket gold at the Asian Games for the second consecutive time, while Pakistan were limited to silver.

Earlier on Saturday morning, in the third-place playoff, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 63 runs to win bronze. Bangladesh were bowled out for 102 in reply to Sri Lanka's 165.

Nepal's team had reached the quarterfinals, but their match against Sri Lanka was washed out by rain and they were eliminated.
