Newly elected Congress office-bearers, central members take oath, pledge eight points

Office-bearers and central members elected at Nepali Congress's 15th general convention took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.
Sabhapati Gagan Kumar Thapa administered the oath at a ceremony held at the party's central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur. Thapa himself had already taken the oath and assumed office on Asoj 31, the day of Fulpati.
Certificates were also handed out to the newly elected members along with the oath. During the ceremony, they pledged to eight points, including staying committed to the constitution, abiding by party discipline, and not engaging in activities against the statute.
Immediately after the oath, the new central working committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting, also in Sanepa. According to joint general secretary Prakash Rasaili Snehi, the sabhapati will brief the meeting on current affairs, and no other agenda will be taken up.
The meeting is also expected to decide to thank the representatives, election committee, security personnel and journalists who helped make the general convention a success.
Meanwhile, the party is preparing to run a month-long nationwide outreach campaign in Mangsir. According to Sabhapati Thapa, the campaign's goal is to reconnect with voters who drifted away from the party in the last House of Representatives election and to understand why they did so.
