Cricket match and climate dialogue planned at Api Himal base camp, about 4,000 metres high

A friendly cricket match is set to be organized at the Api Himal base camp in Darchula, at an altitude of about 4,000 metres above sea level.
As part of the Api Himal Tourism Festival 2083, being organized by Api Himal Rural Municipality from Kartik 17 to 19, the match will be played between Dhangadhi-11 and Api-11 on Kartik 18.
Sudurpashchim Chief Minister Khagraj Bhatta and federal Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel are scheduled to inaugurate the competition.
The match is being held on the natural ground of this high Himalayan area in an effort to link mountain tourism with sports.
A special dialogue focused on climate change will also be held as part of the festival. Rural municipality chairperson Bhaktasingh Thekre Bohora said the dialogue is intended to draw the world's attention to the impact of climate change on Nepal's high Himalayan region ahead of the international climate conference in November.
