Australia's former captain David Warner is set to arrive in Nepal on Sunday to play in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

Kathmandu Gorkhas, the franchise that has signed him, has said Warner will arrive on November 1, that is Kartik 15.

The franchise expects the team's performance to strengthen after Warner's arrival.

Since Warner had not yet arrived, Kathmandu played its first match against Janakpur Bolts on Thursday without him. Australian all-rounder Will Bosisto was also unavailable for that match.

Led by captain Karan KC, Kathmandu fielded Australia's Sam Hazlett, American wicketkeeper Smit Patel, Bangladesh's Ripon Mondol and Pakistan's Jahandad Khan as their foreign players.

Janakpur, meanwhile, kept New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham on the bench. Captain Harmeet Singh said at the toss that Neesham was not playing for personal reasons. Bangladesh's Saif Hasan got the opportunity in his place, while Amarsingh Rautela came into the side instead of Aditya Mahto.

Kathmandu, without Warner, were bowled out for 115 runs in that match.

The third edition of the NPL, featuring eight teams, will continue until Mangsir 5.
