Vice-president Kunal Kayal and executive committee member Karan Chaudhary appear set to compete for the presidency of the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI). Both have staked their claim to lead the chamber.

The chamber's 32nd general assembly is scheduled for Asoj 29, when a new executive committee for the next two years will be elected. According to the election schedule, candidacies for 10 posts, one president and nine members, will be registered on Asoj 21. If both file their candidacies, the presidency will be decided through an election. The formal rivals for the presidency will become clear only after nominations are registered.

The chamber was initially formed by an ad hoc committee in 2049 BS. It was formally registered in 2051 BS as the Binational Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu. The chamber has long worked to promote industry, trade and investment between Nepal and India.
