Lamjung settlements still rely on mini hydropower, awaiting transmission line

Some settlements in Lamjung still depend on mini hydropower as the national transmission line has not reached them.
According to Sovit Bahadur Chhetri, chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority's distribution centre, settlements including Pasgaun and Singdi in Kwholasothar Rural Municipality are yet to be covered by the national line's expansion. About 20 households in one village of Rainas Municipality have also not been connected to the transmission line.
So far, electricity service has reached 44,000 households across the district. Power supply to these settlements falls further whenever the local project's output drops.
Singdi village has about 220 to 225 households. The local mini hydropower project, which used to produce 40 kilowatts, is now generating at most 25 kilowatts. Following the drop in output, the village faces a daily four-hour power cut.
