Roshi river crosses danger level

Following continuous rainfall since Thursday, the water level of the Roshi river in Kavrepalanchok crossed the danger level at 5 pm Friday evening.

According to the Flood Information Center based in Panauti, the river's water level had been fluctuating throughout the day. Department hydrologists said the water level at Panauti reached about 4.5 meters by 5:55 pm.

With the water level continuing to rise, the risk of erosion and flooding has increased in downstream areas and nearby settlements. Flood-monitoring stations for the Roshi river have been set up near Bhumidanda and Triveni Ghat in Panauti.

After the water level crossed the danger mark, a warning light visible to locals was switched on at Gorakhnath in Panauti.
