Campaign materials at Congress convention venue violate code of conduct

Campaign materials in violation of the code of conduct have appeared widely around the venue of the Nepali Congress's 15th general convention.
The party's Election Committee had imposed a complete ban on placing, pasting or distributing any printed campaign materials — including flexes, banners, posters and pamphlets — at and around the convention venue.
The committee had said the ban was imposed, in view of the recent disasters, to keep the convention dignified, frugal and disciplined.
Committee member-secretary Raju Katuwal had said all forms of flashy campaigning would be completely prohibited. Party president Gagan Thapa had also directed candidates and representatives not to put up campaign materials.
However, posters and pamphlets are scattered on poles and across the ground at the venue.
Voting for the new central working committee was underway on Thursday, with hundreds of candidates contesting for the posts of president, vice-president, general secretary, deputy general secretary and central member.
