Flights resume at Gulmi's Resunga airport after four months

Flights resumed at Gulmi's Resunga airport on Tuesday after being suspended for about four months. Service had been halted since the third week of Jestha due to unfavorable weather.
According to station chief Suman Thapa, the airport had to suspend flights because poor weather, thick fog and wind pressure could cause difficulties for aircraft.
On the first day back, Nepal Airlines Corporation's Twin Otter aircraft flew to Resunga from Kathmandu carrying more than a dozen passengers. On the return trip, however, the plane carried only two passengers.
With the weather now favorable, the Corporation has scheduled flights three days a week. According to the Corporation, the fare from Kathmandu to Resunga is about Rs 10,700, and from Resunga to Kathmandu about Rs 10,500.
The suspension had particularly affected patients, elderly people and others who needed to travel to the capital urgently. The Corporation had started commercial flights to Resunga on Baishakh 29, 2080.
