The joint arrangement allowing exchange and sale of gas cylinders of all brands in the Kathmandu Valley will remain in effect only until Wednesday, Asoj 28.

According to Diwan Chand, president of the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, regular sales and distribution through dealers will resume as before from Thursday.

The special arrangement was introduced from Sunday to make things easier for consumers during Dashain, allowing people to hand in an empty cylinder of any brand at designated centers and receive a filled cylinder in return.

The measure was brought in to address complaints that a cylinder of one brand could not be exchanged for another.

Sales began on the first day at 6 centers, and on Monday 5 more locations were added, bringing the total to 11 centers.

The arrangement, initially said to run until Asoj 31, was then extended by a day to Asoj 30, but the duration was shortened again on Tuesday.

Under this arrangement, consumers had to stand in long lines at the sales centers.

The association claims there is no shortage of gas in the market.

The association apologized for the inconvenience and requested consumers to buy gas from their nearest authorized dealer.
