National transmission line brings power to remote Hatiya in Sankhuwasabha

The Nepal Electricity Authority has begun supplying electricity from the national transmission line to Hatiya in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-3, in the northern part of Sankhuwasabha district.
The Hatiya area had previously been receiving power from a small hydropower project. The line extension was carried out under a project run by the Authority's Planning and Technical Services Department under the Distribution and Customer Service Directorate.
According to Ram Babu Chaudhary, chief of the Khandbari Distribution Centre, supply has begun with three-phase meters installed at the Bhotkhola Rural Municipality office and the Hatiya hospital.
With the national line now connected, electricity in this remote area is expected to become more reliable and sufficient. The Authority said local residents, government offices, health institutions, grinding mills and cottage industries would directly benefit.
The Authority has also moved ahead with the tendering process to extend the transmission line to Kimathanka, in the same rural municipality bordering China. It aims to bring national-grid electricity to Kimathanka within the current fiscal year.
