Korala road blocked, over 150 containers and about 200 vehicles stranded at customs

Heavy rainfall has blocked the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road, a project of national pride, at several locations. As a result, containers carrying goods imported from China have been stranded at the Korala checkpoint in Mustang.
More than 150 containers are stuck at the customs office at the Korala checkpoint in Lomanthang Rural Municipality. After floods and landslides damaged the road, around 200 electric vehicles (EVs) have also been stranded along with the containers carrying goods meant for the Dashain-Tihar festival season.
With the Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi checkpoints completely closed, Korala had become the only alternative route. Due to the rain, this checkpoint too has now been affected.
Until the road reopens, the containers and vehicles carrying festival-bound goods will not be able to move forward.
