Budhigandaki flood: Parliamentary special committee urges faster search for missing

A parliamentary special committee has expressed concern over the damage caused by the flash flood in the Budhigandaki river in Gorkha's Chumnubri, Dharche and Aarughat areas. The committee, chaired by Ganesh Parajuli, has urged the government to speed up rescue operations.

The committee has also urged the government to intensify the search for those who went missing in the flood.

Likewise, the committee has suggested that the government streamline inter-level coordination and an integrated relief distribution system in post-disaster situations. Issues of the impact of climate change in the Himalayas and climate justice were also raised during the committee's discussion on Sunday, Asoj 25.

The flood, which struck on Sunday morning, has damaged houses, bridges and other physical structures in various parts of Gorkha.
