48 settlements in Humla at high risk of floods and landslides

More than four dozen settlements across all seven rural municipalities of Humla are at high risk of floods and landslides, according to the district's disaster preparedness and response plan.

The plan was prepared based on field monitoring by a team and recommendations from the rural municipalities.

Because houses have been built and inhabited on steep, sloping land, the risk of landslides rises in these settlements during the rainy season.

As demanded by local residents, the process of relocating three settlements in the Limi area to safer locations is already underway.

Efforts have also begun to discuss relocating other at-risk settlements with local residents.
