Congress Deuwa faction to hold 15th general convention from Mangsir 21-23

The Nepali Congress establishment faction (the Sher Bahadur Deuwa faction) has decided to hold the party's 15th general convention on Mangsir 21, 22 and 23. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the party's contact office in Chundevi, Maharajgunj, on Saturday.

Faction leader Dr. Mahat said that after consensus could not be reached, preparations for the convention were being carried out in "emergency mode." The group said efforts to build consensus had not proved possible.

Dr. Shashank Koirala, coordinator of the convention preparation committee, said the upcoming convention was not merely a formality for choosing leadership but a test that would decide the future direction of the Congress party. "The Nepali Congress is an old party with strong ideas. Old does not mean broken — we are moving forward with new enthusiasm," he said.

Meanwhile, the Membership Management Central Committee formed by the group for the 15th convention has submitted details of active membership to the Central Election Committee. Preparations for the group's ward-level conventions have also picked up pace.
