Dr Govinda KC begins 25th satyagraha in Ilam

Medical education activist Professor Dr Govinda KC began his 25th satyagraha in Ilam on Thursday. He announced the start of the protest at a press conference after arriving in Ilam.

Dr KC has raised questions about a conflict of interest in decisions made by the Medical Education Commission. He has demanded that the disputed decision be scrapped and that reforms be made in the medical education sector. According to him, the commission has allowed medical education programs to run without minimum infrastructure and the required workforce, and has added seats at various medical colleges. He has also demanded that a medical college be established in Ilam.

Dr KC said he launched the satyagraha after the government showed no interest in fulfilling his demands.

The Ministry of Education and Sports has said Dr KC's contribution has been significant to policy and institutional reform, improved service delivery, and good governance in medical education.
