10 out-of-contact herb collectors from Humla safely reach contact

Ten people from Humla who had gone to collect herbs in the mountain region and had been out of contact for a week are now safely back in touch.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Khadka of the District Police Office, Humla, contact was established with all of them on Monday. They are residents of Thehegaun in Simkot Rural Municipality-2.

They had gone on Bhadau 28 to the Lurpekhola forest, on the border of Kharpunath Rural Municipality-5 and Changkheli Rural Municipality-4, to collect Katuki, a medicinal herb. After they could not be reached by family since Asoj 8, relatives had informed the district administration, which then launched a search.

Police said the remote mountain terrain and lack of communication facilities meant they could not connect with their families for several days.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the mountain and hill regions will see partly cloudy skies today, with a forecast of light rain or snowfall at one or two places in these regions. The department said Birendranagar, the capital of Karnali Province, will see partly cloudy skies with no chance of rain. Tomorrow, however, the department expects partly cloudy skies across the country, including the Tarai.
