After Dasain, people return to Kathmandu as border crossings see traffic and markets grow busy

Travelers who left the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dasain have begun returning in large numbers. As they return, traffic has started increasing at the major entry points into the valley.
With Bada Dasain drawing to a close, the federal capital, which had turned quiet for a few days, is returning to its normal daily rhythm and business activity. Crowds of consumers have thickened in the Asan and New Road markets.
As people who had gone to their hometowns to celebrate Dasain return to their workplaces, business activity has also picked up at the Kalimati fruit and vegetable market. Wholesale and retail markets, which had been largely quiet for a few days because of Dasain, are seeing trading pick up again.
With the main festival over, crowds are once again being seen on the valley's roads, markets and vegetable bazaars.
