Mustang sells over 360 million rupees worth of sheep and goats during Dashain

Sheep and goats worth more than 360 million rupees were sold from Mustang during Dashain.
According to Dr. Lalmani Aryal, chief of the Agriculture and Livestock Development Office, Mustang, 13,950 sheep and goats were sold this year. These include animals raised by farmers in five local levels of Mustang itself, as well as animals brought in from districts of Karnali Province, including Dolpa and Mugu.
Farmers from Mustang alone sold 7,964 goats and 1,204 sheep. Another 3,551 sheep and goats came from Dolpa. Some 438 goats that arrived via the Korala border point through Tibet were also sold onward through Mustang.
Dr. Aryal said sales during Dashain were encouraging and that some farmers had held back animals for the Tihar festival. According to him, farmers received better prices this year compared to last year.
