Education minister, Cyprus ambassador discuss Nepali students

Education and Sports Minister Sasmita Pokharel met Cyprus's non-resident ambassador Evagoras Vryonides to discuss the welfare of Nepali students studying in Cyprus and cooperation in higher education.
The ministry said the meeting, held at the ministry's office in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, also touched on relations and mutual interests between the two countries.
The discussion covered providing necessary support to Nepalis studying at universities and higher education institutions in Cyprus, safeguarding their interests, and facilitating solutions if problems arise. Since Cyprus has become one of the destinations for Nepali students' higher education, the talks also covered seeking the Cyprus government's cooperation on such facilitation.
The two sides also discussed ongoing cooperation in higher education. Minister Pokharel said the ministry is working to simplify the process of issuing no-objection certificates (NOC) to students going abroad to study and of determining equivalence for foreign academic degrees.
