The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to hold its national general convention only after the local-level elections. The Central Coordination Committee meeting held in Parisdanda on Friday decided to hold ward conventions in all wards across the country on the same day, on Poush 11.

Conventions of all metropolitan cities, sub-metropolitan cities, municipalities and rural municipalities will be held simultaneously on Magh 15. However, the dates for the district, provincial and national conventions have not yet been fixed. According to spokesperson Prakash Jwala, a decision has also been made to increase youth participation starting from the lowest-level conventions.

The party said that although it had earlier brought a schedule to hold the convention in Mangsir, that was obstructed by floods, landslides and political developments.

The meeting also decided to run a "National Awakening Campaign" from Kattik 7 to Mangsir 25. The campaign will be inaugurated with a large press conference on Kattik 7. Spokesperson Jwala said the campaign would be used to renew membership, strengthen the organization, and prepare for the convention as well as the local and provincial elections.

The spokesperson said it had also been decided to hold discussions, in the presence of senior leader Jhalanath Khanal himself, on the "Socialist Awakening Campaign" he had announced.
