Darchula district hospital building targeted for completion by end of Poush

The building of the district hospital under construction in Khalanga, the district headquarters of Darchula, is targeted for completion by the end of this Poush. Construction has picked up pace to meet this deadline.

According to the project, the building will have 50 beds. Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal inspected the project site in the last week of Saun. The pace of work increased after he directed that the construction company be blacklisted if it delayed the work.

According to the Compact Urban and Building Construction Project, Baitadi, physical progress so far stands at about 65 percent and financial progress at about 52 percent. Interior work on the ground and first floors has been completed, while work is ongoing on the second and third floors.

Project engineer Bishal Shrestha said casting of the fourth floor would be completed within the third week of Asoj. The government had signed a contract for the building — which will have disability-friendly structures and a lift — with Shyam Sundar Gorkha, YR JV, on Asar 24, 2078.

Under the agreement, the building, costing about Rs 264.8 million, was to be completed by Asar 23, 2081. The work was not finished on schedule. Engineer Shrestha said work is now underway to complete the building within the extended deadline.
