Youths protest in Janakpurdham demanding Madhesh health minister's resignation

The Madhesh Youth Network has demanded the immediate resignation of the Madhesh province's minister for health and population, accusing the minister of failing to curb irregularities in the province's health sector.

The network staged the protest in front of Madhesh Bhawan in Janakpurdham, saying its demands had gone unheard.

The network had earlier submitted a memorandum to the ministry's secretary, Dr Pramod Kumar Yadav, demanding transparent and people-oriented health services, giving the government a 15-day deadline.

Youths grew angry after the government failed to bring a concrete action plan within the stipulated period, and the minister said he was unaware of the memorandum.

Kishan Sah, a representative of the network, said health services were not a political or administrative matter but an issue tied to citizens' fundamental rights.
