Nepali Congress has named a new coordinator to move forward the regional convention in Morang Constituency No. 6, which had been halted.

The central office has assigned district deputy secretary Sanjay Kumar Mandal the responsibility of coordinator. General Secretary Pradeep Paudel sent a letter regarding this on Thursday.

According to the letter, Mandal must complete the convention in coordination with the election committee as per the party's constitution and the decision of the district working committee. Leader Chumanarayan Tabdar had previously been the regional coordinator.

The process had been halted after a dispute arose before the convention could begin at Sundarharaicha-4 on Wednesday. The convention venue has now been shifted to Rajbanshi Khawas Community Hall in Bansbari, Budhiganga Rural Municipality-3, where the election process will begin from Friday.

Co-General Secretary Dr Dila Sangraula confirmed that both the coordinator and the venue had been changed. Conventions have already been completed in Morang's other five constituencies.

Morang-6 is the constituency of leader Dr Shekhar Koirala. It has been clarified that since Koirala supports a unity convention, he remains neutral in both convention processes and has no involvement in the incident.
