Clear skies in the Tarai, light rain likely over Koshi-Bagmati hills and mountains

According to the forecast issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology on Wednesday evening, mostly cloudy conditions are expected today in the country's mountainous and hilly regions, while partly cloudy skies are expected in the Tarai belt.
The department said light rain or snow is possible in a few places in the high hills and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. In similar areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, light rain or snow is possible in only one or two places.
According to the department, the monsoon's low-pressure trough currently lies near its normal position, and the country is under the partial influence of both monsoon and westerly winds.
Among major cities, Kathmandu's temperature is expected to range between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius, with a 30 percent chance of rain. Pokhara is expected to see temperatures of 29 to 31 degrees and Birendranagar 31 to 33 degrees, with rain probabilities of 30 and 20 percent respectively. The department noted that light rain with thunder is possible in all three cities.
In the Tarai, Nepalgunj and Janakpur are expected to reach 33 to 35 degrees, and Biratnagar 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, with no chance of rain in any of the three cities.
