Those who have drifted away must be brought back: Congress chief Thapa, as Gen Z group raises demands

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has emphasized the need to bring back into the party leaders and cadres who have drifted away due to dissatisfaction. He made the remarks at a condolence program organized by the Congress's Annapurna Rural Municipality in Pokhara on Monday, marking the 13th death anniversary of former Assistant Minister Prakash Bahadur Gurung.
President Thapa said Congress is not just a party of big leaders but a shared party of all the workers who have built the organization by working in villages. Addressing the dissatisfaction seen within the party, he said everyone must be brought along as the party moves forward. At the gathering, Gurung's contributions to the party organization and society were recalled, with Congress leaders, cadres and well-wishers in attendance.
On the same occasion in Pokhara, a Gen Z group placed various demands before newly elected President Thapa. The group demanded that the Gen Z movement be given recognition as a people's movement and that agreements reached with the government be implemented. They also demanded an end to political retaliation against youths who took part in the movement. The group said the youth-led movement against corruption and misgovernance had raised demands for good governance, accountability and civil liberties.
