Budhigandaki flood-blocked road in Dharche partially reopens after five days

The road in Dharche Rural Municipality-2 that was blocked by flooding in the Budhigandaki river in Gorkha has partially reopened after five days.
Sunday's flood swept away suspension bridges and Bailey bridges at Khanibeshi, Machhakhola, Khorlabeshi and Dobhan, cutting off movement for residents of Kerauja and Runchet.
According to rural municipality chairperson Laxman Gurung, around 50 local youths, mobilized at the rural municipality's call, worked continuously for three days from Tuesday to reopen the road.
Youths from Kerauja, Keraujabeshi and Runchet cleared the silt deposited by the flood, laid logs across gaps and set up ladders at various points.
Chairperson Gurung said that after the road reopened, around 100 people who had been stranded in between reached their village with the help of ladders and ropes.
