Repair begins on Arughat bridge linking Dhading, Gorkha; Bailey bridge planned before Dashain

Repair work has begun on the Arughat bridge, which was damaged by flooding in the Budhigandaki river.

The Gorkha-side section of the bridge, which connects Gorkha and Dhading, was swept away by the flood of Asoj 25.

According to published details, the roughly 85-meter bridge has an RCC section of about 25 meters and a truss section of about 60 meters. The flood swept away about 22 meters of the RCC section on the Gorkha side, while the truss section remains intact.

Foundation structures are being built at the collapsed section to install a temporary bridge. Repairs are being carried out at a rapid pace with the aim of placing a Bailey bridge there before Bijayadashami.

Since the bridge collapsed, residents of Tripurasundari and Arughat have faced difficulty crossing the river.
