Rasuwa flood: National Assembly members demand concrete plan to revive affected areas

National Assembly members have demanded that the government bring a concrete plan to revive flood-devastated areas and promote nature-based tourism.
They raised the demand at a meeting of the assembly's Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee held at Singha Durbar on Thursday.
The lawmakers said the federal, provincial and local governments must work together to rebuild infrastructure, including hydropower projects, damaged by the flood in the Bhotekoshi river in Rasuwa.
CPN member Urmila Aryal said a long-term plan is needed to address the challenges of climate change and floods. She stressed that Nepal should take the initiative to create a separate climate recovery model and a global platform.
She also said traditional farming systems, irrigation, land management and settlement development need to be organized systematically.
Other lawmakers suggested focusing on reducing the impact of climate change, managing finances, and controlling human-wildlife conflict.
