Snowfall fully blocks Jomsom-Korala road, over 200 containers stranded at customs yard

The Jomsom-Korala road section in Mustang has been completely blocked due to continuous rain and snowfall since Saturday night. The affected stretch runs from Kabhrebhir, on the border of Myagdi and Mustang, to the Korala checkpoint.

With the Korala checkpoint closed due to snowfall, electricity supply in the area has also been disrupted. More than 200 containers remain stranded at the customs yard.

Traffic has been affected on the Kaligandaki Corridor, which connects to China's Korala checkpoint via Mustang, after landslides occurred at 46 locations along the road. Continuous rainfall has also caused landslides, rockfalls and road cutting at various points.

Three days of continuous rain have caused landslides, inundation and flood damage along various sections of the corridor. Equipment has been kept on standby to clear landslide debris once the road is blocked.
