Prachanda says UML–Nekpa cooperation in province should last through local elections

Nepali Communist Party (Nekpa) convener Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said the political cooperation under way in the provincial government should be carried through to the local elections. He made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a unity meeting of Nekpa Kavrepalanchok district in Banepa, Kavre.

"This cooperation should be strengthened not only in the provincial government but also in future debates inside the House and until the elections," Prachanda said. He said he would also work together with communists. According to Nepal Press, he said the party would go to street movements and local elections together with UML.

Prachanda said that since the country's situation has changed, it is not possible to move forward in the old way. He claimed that attempts are under way to push the country toward an extraordinary crisis.

His remarks came as preparations for the local level elections are under way. UML and Nekpa are currently cooperating in the provincial government.
