Transport operators pledge not to raise fares during festival season

The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs has committed not to raise public transport fares during the upcoming festival season. The federation made this pledge at a meeting of the House of Representatives' Infrastructure Development Committee held on Monday.

The meeting directed the Ministry of Infrastructure Development to make arrangements so passengers can easily obtain bus tickets during Dashain. The committee also directed that tickets be sold only from the locations designated for vehicle operations.

Nepal Police will set up 'citizen passenger help desks' at major transport hubs ahead of the upcoming festivals. Police informed the committee meeting that the help desks and the 'queue-free' system would be made effective to prevent passengers from being cheated.
