Five-time World Cup winners Brazil defeated India 4–0 in an international friendly football match. The match, played at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday night, was the first senior men's national team meeting between the two countries. Spectators had to pass three layers of security checks before entering the stadium.

Estêvão Willian opened Brazil's account with a counter-attack in the 28th minute. In the 42nd minute, Pedro added a second goal after a weak save by India's captain and goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. In the second half, Samuel Lino scored in the 58th minute and again in injury time.

Prabhsukhan Gill came on in goal for Gurpreet in the second half. Brazil's captain was defender Marquinhos, and Vinicius Junior was also in the starting XI. Gurpreet saved a shot from Vinicius in the 9th minute. In the 67th minute, Ryan Williams wasted a chance inside the penalty box from a pass by Manvir Singh.

Before the match, Brazil were sixth and India 138th in the FIFA rankings. India had earlier drawn 2–2 with Panama.
