Police win Madan Bhandari Cup volleyball, beating Sabhapokhari in straight sets

Nepal Police Club has won the Madan Bhandari Cup International Invitational Running Shield men's volleyball tournament. In the final, held on Saturday at the BICC Convention Centre in Butwal, Police defeated Sankhuwasabha's Sabhapokhari Volleyball Club 3–0 in straight sets. Police won the three sets 25–23, 25–23 and 25–22.
Sabhapokhari, which fielded Indian players, performed well in the league stage but lost in the final. The winners, Police, received Rs 700,000 and the runners-up, Sabhapokhari, received Rs 350,000.
In the third-place match, APF Club defeated Punjab's Khaira Volleyball Club 3–1 in sets. APF received Rs 175,000 and Khaira, which finished fourth, received Rs 75,000.
Police's Pahal Gahatraj was named the tournament's best player. APF's Saroj Bardewa was named best spiker and Police's Balram Gurung best setter. Police's Resham Chhantyal was named best server and Chandra Kunwar was named best coach.
Lumbini Province Minister for Youth and Sports Ramji Ghimire and others handed over the prizes to the winners. The second edition of the tournament, which began on Asoj 12, featured seven teams: three foreign and four domestic. The tournament, organized by the Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, was inaugurated by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
