Finance Minister Waglé asks ADB to help with post-disaster reconstruction

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has requested the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to help with post-disaster recovery and climate-resilient reconstruction.
Minister Wagle and ADB President Masato Kanda held talks on Thursday on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings in Bangkok.
His secretariat said that during the meeting, Minister Wagle requested support in mobilizing resources for post-disaster reconstruction as well as for implementing Nepal's long-term economic priorities. The two sides also discussed ADB's support for building infrastructure that can withstand the risk of future disasters.
Minister Wagle expressed Nepal's gratitude to the bank for promptly approving emergency grants for rescue operations after the devastating floods and for showing solidarity. President Kanda said he has placed Nepal's development as a high priority.
Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyaya and Finance Ministry Joint Secretary Amrit Lamsal were also present at the meeting.
