Clouds over hills and mountains, light rain in some areas; partly cloudy in Tarai: Weather Department

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will generally be cloudy today. The department said there would be a partial effect of westerly winds across the country alongside the monsoon airflow.

The mountainous and hilly parts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, along with the Tarai, will be partly cloudy. Light rain or snow is possible in one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki. Light rain is also possible in one or two places in Bagmati's Tarai belt.

The department forecasts that tomorrow, a few places in the mountainous and hilly terrain of Koshi and Bagmati could see moderate rain. Light rain is possible tomorrow in the hills of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and in one or two places in the Tarai of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini.

Among major cities, Kathmandu and Pokhara have a 20 percent chance of light rain with thunder. Kathmandu's temperature is expected to reach 18 degrees Celsius and Pokhara's 21 degrees. Biratnagar will see morning fog, with a temperature of 23 degrees. Nepalgunj will have morning mist, with a temperature of 23 degrees.

Janakpur's weather will be mostly clear, with the temperature expected to reach 24 degrees. Birendranagar will be partly cloudy with a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius. The department said there is zero chance of rain in Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Janakpur and Birendranagar.
