982 drivers caught driving drunk or on drugs in Kathmandu Valley during 13 days of Dasain

A total of 982 drivers have been caught driving vehicles in Kathmandu Valley under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office shared this information.
According to traffic police, this number of drivers were caught over a 13-day period starting from Ghatasthapana, coinciding with the main days of Bada Dasain. Since traffic and passenger volumes rise on the roads during festivals, police had been conducting checks at various locations across the Valley.
Drivers caught operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol are referred to as "mapse," while those under the influence of narcotics are called "lapse." Police kept up the crackdown against mapse and lapse violations throughout Dasain.
Traffic police released this data as the number of people returning to Kathmandu after celebrating Dasain continues to rise.
