A checkpoint in the Indian border area of Banbassa has sent back to Nepal 25 children under the age of 10 who were being taken to Dehradun, India, to learn the Tibetan language.

The children are from Seyra, Simkot Rural Municipality-8, in Humla. Panchapabir Budha had been taking them to India via the Gaddachowki border point in Kanchanpur.

After the children reached the checkpoint at Banbassa, the Indian side stopped them and sent them back to Nepal.

The incident occurred at a time when crowds of people travelling between India and Nepal via the Gaddachowki border point have increased during the Dashain-Tihar period.
