The road has reopened after a landslide that fell on the East-West Highway near Chorkhola in Dang was cleared.

Vehicles had been stranded on the highway after continuous rain triggered a landslide that blocked movement on that section for some time.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Yadu Karki of the Armed Police Force Nepal's 29 Battalion Headquarters in Bhalubang said the road had been fully reopened after the landslide was cleared.

Security personnel and teams from the concerned agencies were deployed to clear the landslide. With the road open, vehicles that had been stuck have proceeded toward their destinations.

Although traffic on the highway has returned to normal, police have urged travelers to remain cautious as the risk of landslides persists in various places due to the rain.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the country is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds.

The department's forecast says one or two places in the hilly and Tarai areas of Lumbini Province, where Dang is located, and in the hilly areas of Gandaki, are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

On Thursday, one or two places in the hilly and Tarai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may receive heavy rainfall, the department said, while one or two places in the Tarai of Lumbini may see moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The department puts the chance of rain in Pokhara at 40 percent, and forecasts morning fog in Nepalgunj, also in Lumbini, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
