Rain blocks highways: BP Highway reopens, work continues to clear Prithvi Highway

The BP Highway, which was blocked after landslide debris and mud fell overnight following heavy rain, has reopened, while work to clear the Prithvi Highway is still underway.

In Galaundi, Gajuri-5, Dhading, the road caved in after erosion by the Trishuli River, and back-cutting has begun after reaching an agreement with the local level. An alternative route is currently being used there, with two-wheelers and small vehicles given priority on a rotating basis.
With the highway closed, buses scheduled to depart from the New Bus Park remain stranded there, and cargo vehicles are stuck at Kalanki.
In Makwanpur, the district administration has implemented an odd-even schedule on the Tribhuvan Highway, and traffic police are giving priority to passenger vehicles.
