Panchase in Kaski records highest rainfall in 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, the Panchase area in Kaski has recorded the country's highest rainfall, about 189 millimeters. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology's research center, Archale in Palpa recorded about 172mm, Bharse in Gulmi nearly 171mm, and Kuhun in Myagdi about 165mm.

According to flood measuring stations, rivers at Kiran Nala in Banke and Manglaghat in Myagdi have crossed the alert level, while rivers in Parbat, Lamjung, Chitwan and Bhojpur are nearing the alert level.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, a westerly wind system is having a partial effect across the country along with the monsoon airflow. The department said the low-pressure system over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in India is moving toward Uttar Pradesh and weakening.

Today, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, while tomorrow very heavy rainfall is forecast at one or two places in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim. The chance of rainfall today is 100 percent in Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Birendranagar, and 60 percent in Kathmandu, with the capital's temperature expected between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius.

There is also a possibility of windstorms today at some places in the Tarai of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim, and in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali.
