Zelensky unhappy with Trump's decision, demands sanctions on Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called it unfortunate that US President Donald Trump halted a proposed sweeping set of sanctions against Russia.

Within hours of the White House's decision not to proceed with sanctions targeting the Russian economy, Zelensky called on supporters to push for new US sanctions.

On social media, Zelensky noted that the US had set aside the entire "Lindsey Graham Act," saying the law was expected to help end the war by increasing pressure on Russia. Despite rising tensions with Washington recently, he has not directly criticized Trump.

Russia is reported to have attacked energy infrastructure at more than 15 locations across Ukraine, causing serious damage. The decision comes as Russian attacks intensify, raising concern that Ukraine's security risks will grow over winter.

Such attacks are warned to affect Ukraine's resilience and make it harder to run essential services during winter.
