Nationwide protests continue in France

Protests took place across France on Saturday over rising prices, higher fuel costs and the use of force by police.

Clashes broke out between police and protesters in the capital Paris as well as in Lyon, Marseille and Lille, among other cities. Incidents of arson, vandalism and damage inside government offices were reported in some areas.

According to French newspaper Le Monde and news agency AFP, protesters set fire to a tourism office in Lyon. Police used tear gas and water cannons to bring the situation under control.

The protests, called by the Yellow Vest movement, drew participation from students, workers and farmers, among others.
