Nepal and India have agreed to increase their joint power import-export capacity.

This is mentioned in details released by the government covering six months of work by the current administration. According to the details, an agreement has been reached to raise Nepal's electricity export capacity to India to about 1,650 megawatts.

The government says the energy sector's main priority during this period has been expanding the transmission network and easing cross-border power trade. Work is progressing on increasing the capacity of major transmission lines connecting to India, building new high-capacity lines, and expanding substations.

Thousands of additional hectares of land have gained irrigation facilities through irrigation projects. Priority has also been given to hydropower generation, expansion of the distribution system, clean cooking technology, and reconstruction of projects damaged by disasters.

The details note that since some transmission projects are still under construction, the expected achievements depend on their timely completion.
