Judicial Council recommends four High Court judges for Supreme Court

The Judicial Council has recommended four High Court judges for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court. The recommendation was made at the council's meeting held on Tuesday.

According to sources at the Judicial Council, the recommended judges include Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Chief Justice of the Pokhara High Court. A council member said the other recommended judges are also chief justices of High Courts.

Dr. Bagchand has been serving in the High Court for a long time. He had not been recommended for the Supreme Court in several previous attempts, but has been included in the recommendation this time.

Under the constitutional process, a parliamentary hearing will be held before the judges recommended by the Judicial Council are appointed.
