Foreigner's residential visa transferred to another foreigner's name, case filed against immigration computer operator

An Immigration Department computer operator has been found to have unauthorizedly altered a visa registered in the name of a Luxembourg citizen and issued it in the name of a US citizen.

Following an investigation by Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), a case has been filed against the computer operator on charges of forgery. According to source reports, the altered visa was a residential visa.

The residential visa registered in the name of one foreign national is alleged to have been transferred into the name of another foreign national. The investigation found that this was carried out through unauthorized access to and use of the Immigration Department's system.

The name of the accused computer operator has not been made public. Further investigation into the incident and case proceedings are expected to continue.
