Bhotekoshi flood zone shifts to 'search and recovery', DNA tests on 3,685 samples underway

The government has decided to move forward with 'search and recovery' operations in the area affected by the Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Home Ministry in Singha Durbar.
With this decision, the regular search-and-rescue phase that has continued so far in the flood-affected area will now shift its focus to search and recovery.
At its meeting on Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority also moved forward the process of finalizing the official count of people missing in the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli flood. The government said it is working to finalize the details of the missing and the dead.
DNA testing of 3,685 samples is underway for the identification of the deceased, it was stated.
